Disruptive Behavior Disorders
Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD) is diagnosed when a child displays a persistent or consistent pattern of defiance, disobedience, and hostility toward various authority figures including parents, teachers, and other adults (ODD Resource).
In Conduct Disorder (CD), a more severe presentation than ODD, children repeatedly violate the personal or property rights of others and the basic expectations of society (CD Resource).
Treatment of both ODD and CD require a systemic approach, ideally including the family, school, social, and community systems. It takes a village to effectively raise and help these children! As the Director of the Behavioral Assessment and Treatment Clinic at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, I developed a thorough behavioral assessment and specialized treatment process to address the unique treatment needs of children and adolescents diagnosed with AD/HD, ODD, and CD. My assessment and treatment process includes a comprehensive psychological evaluation, psychotherapy, school consultation, and family support. I can also work with you to determine if a medication evaluation is necessary.
